Accept contactless payments on the job using just your phone. Tap to Pay with Stripe is fast, secure, and built for trades businesses that need to get paid wherever the work takes them.

How to Connect Tap to Pay

The first time you use Tap to Pay, the setup happens as part of taking your first payment. Here's how:

  1. Go to your calendar and select an appointment.

  2. Tap Payment(s) and select Take payment.

  3. Review the amount and tap Continue.

  4. Under Payment details, choose Tap to pay.

On iOS — if Stripe is already connected:

  1. Confirm or add your business location.

  2. On the Tap to Pay on iPhone screen, select Continue or Use a Different Apple Account.

  3. Tap Agree to link your account.

On iOS — if Stripe isn't connected yet:

  1. Tap Connect from the prompt.

  2. Tap Connect Stripe on the next screen.

  3. Log in with your email — or create a Stripe account if you don't have one. Your account needs to be verified before you can process payments.

  4. Follow the remaining steps above.

On Android — if Stripe is already connected: Confirm or add your business location and continue.

On Android — if Stripe isn't connected yet:

  1. Tap Connect Stripe from the prompt.

  2. Log in with your email and follow the remaining steps.

Note: You must have a location connected to your Stripe account. If you don't, you can add one during setup.

How to Take a Tap to Pay Payment

  1. Go to your calendar and select the appointment.

  2. Tap Payment(s) and select Take payment.

  3. Review the amount and tap Continue.

  4. Select Tap to pay.

  5. When Hold Here to Pay appears, ask the customer to tap their card. On iPhone, they hold to the front of the device. On Android, they hold to the back.

  6. Once you see Done, the payment is confirmed.

If the card doesn't read, tap Try again and ask the customer to tap once more.


FAQ

Are there any extra fees for Tap to Pay? ServiceForge, Apple Pay, and Google Pay don't charge additional fees for Tap to Pay. Your standard bank and Stripe processing fees apply.

How are Tap to Pay payments processed? Payments are processed through your Stripe account and deposited to the bank account linked to Stripe.

How do I disconnect Tap to Pay on iPhone from Apple Business Connect? Sign into Apple Business Connect, go to Tap to Pay on iPhone, select your merchant ID, and tap Remove.

A customer tapped their card and I got a "Try a Different Card" error. What happened? The card likely isn't supported by Stripe. This can happen with certain international cards not widely accepted outside their region.

I'm getting an "Unable to Set Up Tap to Pay on iPhone" error. What do I do? This usually means there are too many cards saved in Apple Wallet, leaving insufficient space to load Tap to Pay. Remove one or more cards from Apple Wallet and try again.
